The year 2013 was an extraordinary year! There were loads of mishaps, good news, sad losses, new births, unimaginable stories so close to home, and believe me when I say even the bizarre and run of the mill things. The year 2013 was the year that Nelson Mandela died, the handsome crush of mine Paul Walker a wonderful and talented actor, Talia Joy Castellano, who was so brave in her journey and later died of cancer and so close to home Barrister Equere Okon, a loving husband and father to a wonderful friend of mine; his death was shocking.
There were loads of good stuff too; we had new births from mothers who have been waiting years for their babies. Our nation U-17 won the world cup and I am sure you have your own lovely stories too of 2013 and as you read this you look back with nostalgia. I know I do. However, 2013 has come and gone and with thanksgiving do we enter into 2014, I say welcome aboard flight 2014 into the future of successes all round, favour and great blessings, we all have waited with hopes and dreams for this moment the first day of January Two Thousand and Fourteen.
As my Pastor calls it, it is a new season which has come for all of us, a year of UPGRADE in all areas of our lives; we are in the brink of a new dawn, a new era of a bright future. Let us all leave our dead weight and baggage of 2013 behind and forge forward towards standing free into 2014 without regrets, stand without sadness, stand with Christ and forge on into 2014 asking God alone to hold your hands into the New Year as He alone can see us through.
I believe I will not give up but stand, hope is born anew in my heart, for today is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. 2014 will be a year of rejoicing for all of us and I can feel it. Do you? Are you ready? Are you ready to write a new history? Are you ready to redefine yourself and your destiny in God’s hands? Are you ready to build the future of your dreams?
How have you prepared yourself for all this? Have you written your goals and aspirations? How do you intend to carry out these goals to make them actionable and achievable? What is your plan for 2014? I have written my goals as is custom in church. You can write yours too, divide them into five areas-Family and Social, Spiritual, Health and Fitness, Career/Vocation and Financial.
Setting your goals allows you plan your life, allow you to choose exactly how you want your life to unfold. Start about thinking how you want to end 2014, what is your big picture, what would you have loved to have done when you look back in December 2014, then break these down into goals, you can just write them all out in a list and then put them under each area as I mentioned above; then create actionable goals. You can use the SMART –Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time- related method.
You can get more of these when you Google, read up on Smart goals and try putting something down. Do something different this year 2014. It is your new season, you will sing a new song this year and your goals and aspirations for the year will become your reality as you plan. As you go along, do not forget to give thanks for how far He has taken you, where you are coming from, where you are now and where you are going. I declare that we shall not die but live to declare the kingdom of God in this land of the living. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
